The Nashville Flood

was a year ago today

This piece was commissioned by my home church Crosspoint

located here in Bellevue

To commemorate the year anniversary of the historic Nashville flood.

Prints were given to the flood victims that go to our church. A simple reminder to each of us of all God had done in our lives over the course of the last year.

Crosspoint came out in force within an hour of the water receding last year ,helping so many of the victims including our own family . The flood destroyed most of the homes on our street including the bottom half of our house .

So this piece is very near and dear to my heart

I got a call from a Mom...

She had just finished redoing their son's room

in a pirate theme, but something was missing.

Intially she thought about putting pirate

sayings around the room especially over the bunk.

When I got there we talked for a bit, the room was very nuetral

and she expressed wanting to add some color,

but did not want any skulls....hmmmm

then I thought well how about a big friendly colorful

Octopus !

He added some much needed color and he is way more exciting that words !

Her son came in the first day grinning ear to ear as I worked on his new friend the octopus.
He then asked Miss Wesa could you paint me a cwab ?
So, so cute !
Of course who could say no to that request ?

We found the perfect place for his Cwab,
right in his reading nook next to his little seat.

He gasped with Excitement when he saw his new reading buddy !

This is a beautiful farmhouse in

Franklin Tn.

After the Nashville flood on May 2nd of this year many families were displaced my friend and client Kate were one of those families. A coworker owned this farm and graciously allowed their family to move in while their home was being rebuilt.

They loved living there are were so grateful

they wanted to give them a unique and personal

thank you gift. So they commissioned a portrait of the farm.

To give to the family that had helped them through such

a difficult time.

What a perfect and thoughtful gift.
